The European Hockey Federation run a number of competitions which are arranged into tiers, with promotion and relegation between each tier. The list below shows the most important competitions with

England’s men and women returned to playing international indoor hockey in 2008 and,after a disappointing start for the women, they were promoted to the Championships in 2012.

Arguably England’s finest hour came in 2009 when they won the European Championships in Amsterdam, beating Germany in the Final.
